The Greening of Ghent
Friday, March 13, 2009, 6-10 pm
Colley Avenue in Ghent

The Ghent Business Association (GBA) invites you to celebrate the luck of the Irish at the 15th Annual GREENING OF GHENT Block Party on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 6-10 pm, on Colley Avenue in Ghent. The St.Patrick's Day celebration is free and open to the public.

Keeping the tradition alive, the Ghent Business Association rolls into its season with its annual kickoff of St.Patrick's Day. Tis the luck of the Irish weÕll be sharin' on Colley Avenue as the Ghent Business Association welcomes all their neighbors to the party of the year, the Greening of Ghent.

Come out and enjoy live music from TailGate Down and Corporate Woods Drive, both bands were winners of the Portfolio Weekly's Local Music Awards. Also, watch the Tidewater Pipe and Drums kick off the festivities. The celebration continues into the "wee" hours of the night at Ghent's popular restaurants and nightspots.

Continuing the annual tradition, the Ghent Business Association encourages folks to come out and enjoy the sounds and festivities in a safe environment. "In keeping with our purpose and our tradition, this being our 15th year, The Ghent Business Association is proud to provide an event that encourages neighbors and the business community to come together to celebrate and have fun," said Jim Newsom, president of the GBA. "Happy St. Patrick's Day and may the luck of the Irish be with us all."

GREENING OF GHENT IS SPONSORED BY The Ghent Business Association, Old Point National Bank and Moore, Moore and Christensen.

The Greening of Ghent is still ON for tonight.

The local weather folks have been telling us there will be occasional light rain, and it will be chilly, but we know that St. Patrick's revelers never let a little water deter them!

Our restaurants will provide wonderful places to get warm and enjoy delicious food, and the Naro has a great Friday night schedule with Frost/Nixon, Oscar Nominated Short Films and later, the Rocky Horror Picture Show. There's no better place to be tonight than in Ghent.

Come join us on Colley Avenue beginning at 6:00 pm for the best block party in Hampton Roads, and some great country rock music.
