Getting Around Ghent

Convenient to all Hampton Roads cities, Ghent is located in central Norfolk, minutes from downtown and the Norfolk Naval Station. The neighborhood's main thoroughfares are Colley Avenue, Colonial Avenue, Granby Street, Olney Road, and 21st Street. The main commercial areas are located along Colley Avenue, Granby Street, and 21st Street.

Parking

Free on-street parking is available on most city streets with two-hour time limits. Free public parking is available in the following parking lots:

Center Shops Location: 22nd Street, near GW Marketplace
Parking Allowed: Parking for Center Shops

Naro and Colley Shops Location: Shirley and Colley Avenue, behind the Naro Theater
Parking Allowed: Parking for Naro and Colley Shops

Palace Shops Location: 20th St. & De Bree Avenue, behind Decorum Furniture
Parking Allowed: Parking for Palace Shops and Ghent Events

Palace Shops Location: 21st Street, near the Baker's Crust
Parking Allowed: Parking for Palace Shops and Ghent Events

Public Parking Location: Spotswood & Colley Ave., near Blair Middle School
Parking Allowed: Parking for Ghent

Public Transportation

Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) operates public bus service routes in and around Ghent to just about every Hampton Roads city. For a complete list of Norfolk routes, schedules, and fares, visit the HRT web site.

The Norfolk Electric Transport (NET) service is a free commuting service provided by the City of Norfolk and operated by the Hampton Roads Transit (HRT) that links parts of Ghent to downtown Norfolk. Download the NET route brochure.
